WSTRN SEASON 3 ALBUM FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Many say WSTRN have never made a bad song and I cannot agree more. They simply don’t know how to do it. Season 3 (which is the West London collective’s third album) definitely did not disappoint! Not only does the 15 track project feature some of their much-loved hits such as Professional Love, Armagideon (ft. Sai So), Be My Guest (ft. Fireboy DML) and so many more, but we’re spoiled for choice with new songs on this project that have endless replay value. What a way to close off the summer with a drop from three of our favourite Grenadian, Jamaican and Guyanese London boys.

Now, I listened to WSTRN’s album whilst I was getting ready to go out to for two of my friend’s birthdays - highly recommend! If you’re the type that has a whole sold out concert in the bathroom as you doll yourself up, this album is for you. Haile, Louis and Akelle are the ultimate trio that provide the correct vibes always.

If I absolutely had to pick my top 3 songs from the album right now (excluding the songs previously released), these would be my selection:

  1. Wait for Me (ft. Pa SALIEU)
  2. So Blessed
  3. Close and personal

In that order!

Reasons why…

  1. Wait For Me is a playful song produced by Chopstix & PRGRSHN by which each member of WSTRN gets their time to have their say. With Haile on the chorus, the repetition easily got me hooked and is the reason why I’ve replayed this song 1,000 already. I also really enjoy Pa Salieu’s segment. His voice is so unique that it gives Wait for Me that certain je ne sais quoi.

  2. So Blessed opens with a beautiful saxophone sample which the producer PRGRSHN incorporates to create a soulful backdrop to Haile’s velvety vocals which we’re all so familiar with. *sighs in WSTRN fan*

  3. Close and Personal allows WSTRN to show us their more vulnerable side. Think, chilling at home with your bae, candles, wine and a good playlist… this track would need to be on the lineup for sure.
