Introducing ThisChord, a Social Club for Real Music Lovers!

Meet Daniel (db Cxptures), Founder of ThisChord, captured at the event.

Imagine the passion and community of a book club, a place where readers gather to discuss the latest literary adventures, only this time, the focus shifts to the beauty and intricacies of music albums, bringing together music lovers alike. Enter ThisChord, brought to life by the multitalented triple threat Daniel, also known as db Cxptures.

Immerse Yourself: Daniel's Stunning Portfolio

As a photographer and videographer, Daniel has captured everything from the hottest parties in London’s vibrant nightlife, such as DLT, Donch’s, and Recess, to overseas festivals like AfroNation, and Dankie Sounds Ibiza, to live music shows featuring artists like Masego, Asake at the O2, and many more.

But Daniel's creativity doesn't stop there—he's also a singer/songwriter, forming one half of the duo DVTN (pronounced Devotion) with his sister, Peace Oluwatobi. With such a rich background in music and visual arts, it's no surprise that Daniel is the visionary behind ThisChord, bringing his passion for music and community together in this unique social club concept.

On the last Wednesday of January, ThisChord hosted its inaugural session, an exclusive event we were fortunate enough to attend, where the spotlight shone on none other than Usher's classic Confessions album, originally released on March 23rd, 2004. ThisChord caters to music lovers who appreciate the finer details of the art, such as the quality of the production, the choice of featured artists (who made the final cut and who didn’t), the songwriting, and how the songs have aged with us over the 20 years since first released.

If we're talking R&B, Usher's Confessions album is undoubtedly a timeless masterpiece that continues to resonate with audiences worldwide. Its impact transcends generations, inspiring countless artists and setting the standard for what the R&B genre means today.

Having chosen such an iconic album to start off with, Daniel intentionally set out to make ThisChord an interactive and lively event. Daniel and his team carefully created a space that felt safe enough for those who came by themselves (me) to speak up on the mic to share their opinion, crack jokes with other attendees, sing their hearts out, and genuinely embrace the vibes provided in such an authentic and natural way. The complimentary drinks and light snacks also helped keep things sweet as this edition of ThisChord was an afterwork motive, kind of reminiscent of an after school club.

Don’t just take my word for it, look at the feedback from attendees:

If you’re looking for new places in London to meet people, make friends and genuinely spend some time socialising without the focus being on drinking alcohol, getting ‘lit’ or ‘finding a connection’ (the streets are cold), you might want to find yourself at ThisChord.
