ThisChord: A safe space for music lovers. 005 - Afrobeats old school vs new school

ThisChord is a book club for music lovers, creating a safe space and social playground for those who love to discuss, break down, and enjoy some of the best music ever made with like-minded individuals. The event was created by Daniel (dbcxptures) and his amazing team, who have cultivated a unique community within 5 short months of the event's inception.

The event has proven popular from the beginning, starting with Confessions (usher) an obvious crowd favourite, followed by Take Care vs Nothing was the Same (Drake), and Thriller (Michael Jackson), then Dangerously in Love vs B’Day (Beyonce) were they hired a larger venue, and most recently Afrobeats old school vs new school, reaching its largest scale to date.

Afrobeats Old School vs New School edition was a special event for the ThisChord community as it allowed them to explore the most treasured tunes of the Afro culture and celebrate what Afro artists and music have created both past and present to represent the culture globally. Along with being graced with the presence and insightful conversation of Grammy-nominated producer Juls and sponsored by Monkey Shoulder, all within a new venue, the night was definitely one for the books.
