Introducing Tancia: ‘It’s like Adele and Kelis had a Lovechild’

The London native, Tancia’s musical journey began in church as a part of her church choir. After pursuing a professional career in marketing, Tancia’s musical passions were reignited, and in 2022 she took a leap of faith leaving her marketing career to make her passions and dreams a reality.

Tancia as an artist pulls heavily from soul, traditional Pop and Afro music to inspire her own music. Outside of music Tancia draws inspiration from meditation, dance and photography, and aims to create her music to be multi-dimensional. Tancia’s music aids as a diary for the artist, allowing her to convert the challenging highs and lows of life into soul-stirring melodies and introspective lyrics. Her emotive, relaxed song-writing captivates audiences internationally and resonates with a range of listeners. This led to the artists first single release in 2021 with ‘Pausée’.

2023 was an active year for Tancia with the release of her 5 track debut EP. ‘Nobody’s watching’, which was praised for its unique sound, songwriting and story-tellling. Tancia also  releases a couple of singles ‘Untitled’ and ‘Cette Nuit’, accompanied with a number of lyric videos, visualisers and official music videos on her personal YouTube channel, all of which has gained positive notoriety and created buzz for the artists.

We all remember a much easier time with pet Tamagotchis and MSN... well, Tancia’s new single 'Flowers' transcends us back to that very age. The stylistics and nostalgia of the early noughties infused with neo-soul vocals and self-expressive lyrics serves as a digital diary entry, depicting the emotional challenges and self-discovery, you can experience when on the pursuit for authenticity.

Tancia’s single ‘Flowers’, accompanied by a self-directed, self-produced and self-featuring music video, subverts the conventional boundaries of visual storytelling, celebrating girlhood and self expression which is refreshing in this ever monolithic society. The captivating screen recording from a MacBook's Photo Booth app, is a unique take on the early digital era, where originality and artistry were most celebrated. The digital confessional aids as a sanctuary, where Tancia connects with her audience showing genuine vulnerability and embraces her unfiltered essence of self-expression.

Flowers’, releasing March 20th 2024 (official first day of spring), comes just in time as a catalyst to Tancia’s blossoming music career and rebrand. We are so excited to see how far this gem will shine. Be sure to check out Tancia’s - ‘Flowers’ and interact with the music video. Also, keep up to date with all that Tancia has to bring in 2024, and we hope to hear more from her soon.
