Introducing 23 Dojo: A Deep Dive into the Genre-Bending Soundscapes of his new single 'Geto'

The South London born, Nigerian raised artist 23 Dojo was intentional about creating a sexy banger. Whilst riding his infamous scooter on the way to the studio in Bermondsey, in his head, Dojo relayed all the elements that make up the perfect day. This birthed the first verse of the catchy Afro-Pop song Geto, the second single off the debut JUNGLETOWN project.

"The first words that came to mind were like… rise in the morning, pray to the father… blaize and I steam up tune get wheel up...” - 23 Dojo

At the time of recording Geto, 23 Dojo wasn’t the type of guy who’d you’d associate with singing vocals, especially not in the setting he was in. Surrounded by hustlers and a hood lifestyle, Dojo took a risk by trying something new. It makes all the difference when you’re surrounded by the right people which happened to be the case here. The company in the room allowed him to enter his comfort zone and confidently lay down the vocals. People like Drill Scott Heron, Malik Polo and Fasina (all affiliated with Abu Recordings) have all inspired Dojo’s multifaceted style of music.

As we’re two tracks in to the already highly anticipated JUNGLETOWN project, the bar has already been set high for what promises to be an exciting introduction to a sound that captures the essence of hustle and h’enjoyment.

Make sure to check out Geto on all music platforms and watch our exclusive interview here.
